My Oxfam tea cup

The Tung Ting Oolong tea wasn’t my only tea-related Christmas present this year. Bec also picked up a cool tea cup for me from the Oxfam shop. Oxfam, in case you didn’t know, is an organization working to fight poverty and injustice throughout the world. One way it does this is by selling handmade goods created by workers in third world countries, who are paid fairly for their work.

But, the cup…

It was made in Indonesia and consists of three parts: the cup, the tea basket and the lid. Simple, but very effective.

You stick your tea leaves in the tea basket, which fits snugly at the top of the cup. Pour your water over the leaves until full, then pop the lid on while you steep the tea. Once it’s ready, take the lid off, pull the basket out slowly, and you have a lovely cup of tea.
